Three-dimensional scene navigation through anaglyphic panorama visualization

by Wei, SK, Huang, YF and Klette, R
Abstract:
Traditional panorama visualization techniques give only single eye’s depth cue to the audience for 3D-world navigation. We introduce a new panorama visualization using color anaglyphs stereoscopic technique so that depth cues of both eyes are provided. Because the camera setups of panoramic and anaglyphic image acquisition are intrinsically incompatible, we measure the errors and support an error-controlled positioning of the camera. Furthermore, a real-time interactive navigator has been designed and implemented for navigation in the stereo panoramic virtual world. A new reprojection method is introduced and significantly improves the quality of anaglyphic panoramas. Additionally, we discuss a novel approach which enhances the navigator by allowing scene objects to be manipulated within the panoramic videos.
