Abstract:
Definitions of the degree of adjacency of two regions in the plane, and the degree of surroundedness of one region by another, are proposed. Some elementary properties of these concepts are established and it is also shown that they have natural generalizations to fuzzy subsets of the plane. Applications of the proposed measures to digital polygons are demonstrated and fast algorithms for computing these measures are given. © 1985.
