Abstract:
In this paper, we will present the development of a new bistable FLC-display on plastic substrates which shows flexibility and memory capability while being insensitive against considerable pressure. The main application of such a display is in Smart Cards where it indicates the remaining money content on the card chip. We will present our measurement data like switching capability, contrast and viewing angle, pressure and bending sensitivity as well as our first demonstrator displays.
